Desert Trips and Large Sculptures − Summer 2008 I've been spending more time in the desert this summer, traveling to Wendover, Utah, for an artist's residency at the Center for Land Use Interpretation, where I performed a 'weapons test' in the name of art. It yielded surprising results, and I'm in the middle of editing the footage for a DVD. Coming soon. I also went farther south to volunteer at High Desert Test Sites in Joshua Tree, Calif. I had a great time - testing the limits of my desert endurance and losing my instinctual fear of rattlesnakes. Back in the Northwest, I installed a large sculpture - "#17" - in downtown Bellevue, Washington. The piece looks really good. It was one of my first public art commissions, and I'm happy the installation went so smoothly. I'm currently up-to-my-elbows in cement(!), constructing another big sculpture. This one's a commission for Bellingham, Washington - a public artwork sited on a downtown sidewalk. And in Portland, I've been commissioned to create a monster. More about that later...

こんにちは、 この冬、僕は幾つかのプロジェクトを始めた。まずは、ユタ州ウエンドーバーにあるCLUI にてレジデントとして受け入れられたことで、これから何度も行くことになるであろう表高度の高い砂漠への準備、グレートベイズンついての調査に忙しい。僕のそこでのプロジェクトは、弾薬、エンジン、そしてその結果（未知）というものになる。 結果は続く。
最近、東京に戻り、２週間程いろいろなものを見て歩いた。もちろん沢山のアートも。。ポートランドと東京は色々な方面で関係がある。僕はこの二つの都市の”アート”の関係をこれからのショー、訪問および様々なプロジェクトによって強くしていきたい。。 リンクのページでは、何人かの日本のアーティストのウェブサイトリンクを貼った。 これから度々このサイトをアップデートしていく予定なのでまた遊びにきてください。 |
